When Love Meets Us in the Dirt
Sometimes love doesn’t stand above you and tell you to get back up. Sometimes love gets down on the ground with you.

In this episode of Heaven Meets Home, I’m sharing how an ordinary afternoon pulling weeds—and the unexpected response of my two-year-old daughter—became a beautiful reminder of the way Jesus meets us in our pain.
When she saw me fall, she left the swing set she loved, came running over, and got down on the ground beside me. And in that simple moment, God reminded me of something I desperately needed to remember:
He is not distant from our pain. He comes close.
We’ll talk about the people who stay when life gets messy, what it means to “mourn with those who mourn,” and Jesus’ warning that the love of many will grow cold.
We’ll also look at the heart of the Gospel—the God who didn’t remain distant from our suffering, but entered it. Jesus understands our weakness, our rejection, our grief, and our pain.
In a world where love can so easily grow cold, may we be people whose hearts remain tender.
People who notice.
People who pray.
People who show up.
People who are willing to be interrupted.
And when someone we love falls, may we be willing to leave our own “swing set” behind and get down in the dirt with them. 🤍
